AVON Perfectly Matte Nudes Lipstick is the solution for those who want to use matte lipsticks, but want something comfortable to wear. To add, this is also the perfect collection for those who are tired of the usual mauve and spice based mauve shades most department store brands currently offer. Contrary to most lipsticks marketed as matte but are actually satin finish, this collection is truly matte.

The colors are mostly based on chocolate brown, and they were brave enough to release coral nudes and buff undertone nudes for this collection. Color-wise, I’d recommend this to someone who already has a lot of lipsticks because these lipsticks are the shades most other brands have not tried releasing.

As for the texture, AVON has this way of making it non-sticky nor annoyingly powdery, nor annoyingly waxy. For people who are really sensitive about textures, this is one of the least annoying lipstick textures out there. It’s very comfortable as it doesn’t feel hot on the lips, it glides on quite smoothly and doesn’t skid, and generally feels lightweight enough. The best way to describe this is this is like Korean mousse lip tint, but made into solid lipstick form, giving it a little more structure, but still having the softness mousse tints are popular for.

One warning though: one should take care to prep one’s lips as this is the texture that can exacerbate cracked lips. This works best if applied on lips that have been treated with lip balm or lip mask throughout the night, or right before application. Lips don’t necessarily have to be super supple when applying this, but there should be no thick cracking skin.

The pigmentation is good enough, and while it doesn’t cover everything in one swipe, it’s buildable to opaque. It thankfully doesn’t feel uncomfortably thick even when piled on to 100% opacity. The color payoff is relatively good enough so as to cancel the natural hues of the lips, but of course, as this fades, the natural hues of the lips will also come through.

This isn’t the most long-lasting lipstick out there, but it’s also good enough. If undisturbed, it can last about 3-5 hours before needing a retouch. But since the texture is so soft, one will really need to reapply after eating or drinking.

At Php379 for 3.6g, it’s more or less in the middle, as releases from similar brands and price points range from 3.2g-4.2g. It’s more or less average pricing for a full-sized mass brand lipstick. For those who are looking for a good quality nude lipstick in unique shades and a very comfortable texture, this is definitely the collection to go for.
