Espoir Colorful Nude Lipstick Nowear (CR505 Memento) Review |
Espoir Colorful Nude Lipstick Nowear is a “colorful nude collection consisting of revitalizing nude colors with a color tone created by adding one spoonful of rose, coral, or pink color to soft nude.” Espoir promises that this collection is perfect to create “new nude looks that will make the lips look bright and clean as if having turned on lighting.” This review is for the shade Memento.
The texture, for me, is right smack where it should be. It’s got a matte finish, which it perfectly achieves with a delicate balance of waxiness, powderiness, and creaminess. It’s creamy enough to glide on smoothly, but also structured enough that the formulation doesn’t move around so much. It’s powdery, but also not too powdery, thanks to the balance of waxiness in the formulation. This is among the more balanced matte lipstick formulations I have tried so far.
I have really dry lips, so I do have a tendency to smack my lips more than the average person. This thankfully doesn’t move around so much, so it also doesn’t transfer so much and doesn’t fade too fast even if I smack my lips a lot. It can feel a bit dry on the lips as it’s got a matte finish, but it’s thankfully not drying to the lips. I guess it’s because it was probably formulated for use during harsh Korean winters. It has no sticky feel at all, making it perfect for our super humid weather here in the Philippines. For a concept look, I’d feel comfortable enough to use this alone, but on a normal day, I’d still prefer to use this with a lip balm for added comfort.
The color pigmentation is good enough as it takes only a few swipes to get this to fully color over the lips. But the color payoff is good enough that what you see on the tube is what you get. It doesn’t water down or become unexpectedly translucent, which matters a lot as these are nude shades. It fades gradually over time (i.e. it doesn’t fade so soon), and will not transfer to your mugs when you have drinks. But it will also completely fade after a meal, so you’d really need to retouch every so often if you really want the color opacity to stay at 100% all day.
The color is what I think is the most amazing part about this range. Anyone who has been reading this blog for a while knows how obsessed I am with coral pinks and coral nude shades. This is one of the most beautiful coral shades I have ever owned, and I feel that it’s the right kind of coral for me. It’s bright and cheerful but muted at the same time. It helps to contribute to a youthful look overall. I am actually interested in getting other shades from this collection.
A peachy nude coral shade.
