AVON Perfectly Matte Lipstick is indeed a good option for those looking for matte finish lipsticks that are comfortable. This lipstick range is buttery, glides on smoothly, and feels emollient on the lips.

It has a very balanced texture as it’s not too powdery, not too waxy, nor is it too creamy. Most other brands go overboard on some aspect to make a lipstick matte, but this is a balanced formulation that doesn’t feel annoying to wear. It’s very comfortable as it doesn’t feel hot on the lips, doesn’t feel thick, and is generally lightweight with a breathable feel. This is a lot like mousse tints, but in solid form, so there’s that soft mousse feel, but with a little more structure. I find this comfortable enough to not need to use this with lip balm as I go about my day.

As the texture is soft and mousse-like, it also has this behavior of exacerbating dry patches on the lips. It doesn’t blur out or fill over dry patches like some other lipsticks might due, perhaps as it’s less waxy than other lipstick formulations. As such, one should take care to exfoliate or treat any dry patches before using this lipstick. 

The pigmentation is good enough, and while it doesn’t cover everything in one swipe, it’s buildable to opaque for most shades. It thankfully doesn’t feel uncomfortably thick even when piled on to full opacity. The color payoff is relatively good enough so as to cancel the natural hues of the lips, but of course, as this fades, the natural hues of the lips will also come through. However, for the nude shades, some shades really do not cover the lips opaquely even at 100% full application. It’s actually not 100% opaque, and under harsh strobe lights, this phenomenon can be seen. But in general, this is opaque enough to the naked eye and for most photography setups. 

As the texture is so soft, one will really need to reapply after eating or drinking. This doesn’t last very long, and will generally need to be reapplied throughout the day if one desires to maintain full opacity. This moves quite a lot, which is why even if one is not to eat nor drink, there’s bound to be fading from all the lipstick movement as one speaks or puckers.

At Php399 for 3.6g, it’s more or less in the middle, as releases from similar brands and price points range from 3.2g-4.2g. It’s more or less average pricing for a full-sized mass brand lipstick. For those who are looking for a good matte lipstick with a very comfortable texture, this is definitely the collection to go for.
