Finally! Kiehl’s is now officially at LazMall, so even if our quarantine status has just been changing from one acronym to another, it’s now easy to get hold of Kiehl’s bestsellers. The world’s finest apothecary is still doing its own thing being the finest, but now, it’s doing so online. I know it’s hard for Kiehl’s fans who are used to trying out the experience and having a beauty advisor experience in the malls. But at least, for now, we can at least snag our tried and tested bestsellers from LazMall.
To kickstart the celebrations, they sent over a lovely box filled with Kiehl’s HG products!
Kiehls Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner (Php2425 for 250mL, Php1500 for 125mL)is a product I’d like to apologize to. My sister used to work for the press and got a press sample of this 10 years ago, which she gave to me. I didn’t appreciate it at the time as I was used to toners being so harsh and having really strong alcoholic formulations. Fast forward to the present, I’m now always on the lookout for toners without alcohol and for those that work to condition the pH balance of the skin rather than suck all the oil out of the skin. I kinda realized all these years that having dehydrated oily skin means I should be looking for hydrating products, and not necessarily that I should try to tackle the oil. Because until my skin is dehydrated, it’ll keep on making oil.

The key thing about this toner is that it has real calendula petals inside, and apparently, these are still put in my hand inside the bottle until now to ensure that the formulation is the best it can be. It’s designed to mildly cleanse and soothe normal to oily skin. I could not understand this back then, and I was so disappointed that this didn’t have a sting. Now, I won’t use any toner that stings. Indeed, times have changed! I’m learning like everyone else, and I’ve learned that alcohol free works for me better, and mild works for me best.

Kiehl’s Powerful Strengh Line Reducing Concentrate (Php3900 for 50mL), for me, is the cousin of Kiehl’s New Vital Skin Strengthening Serum. Both have hyaluronic acid as a key component, but Powerful Strengh Line Reducing Concentrate is enriched with 12.5% Vitamin C while Vital Skin Strengthening Serum is enriched with Kiehl’s Adaptogenic Herbal formulation.

The hyaluronic acid in Kiehl’s Powerful Strengh Line Reducing Concentrate is 50kDa, while the hyaluronic acid in in Kiehl’s New Vital Skin Strengthening Serum is 11kDa. I learned that hyaluronic acid has plenty of forms, and has high molecular weight and small molecular weight formats. High molecular weight (like 1200kDa) formats help for hydration and reflect the famous ability of hyaluronic acid to carry its own weight in water exponentially, while low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (like 11kDa) act more on seeping through the layers of the stratum corneum to tackle wrinkles. Both of these serums from Kiehl’s have lower weight hyaluronic acid, so these are expected to work well on those who are looking to use hyaluronic acid to target wrinkles and fine lines specifically.

Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution (Php3200 for 30mL) is essentially the dark horse in any skincare routine. I have used up one bottle thus far, and my feedback is that this works well to support the other skincare you use. The packaging and the product look simple, but it’s really potent. Whatever clarity that your other products failed to give you, this will be the one to step in and do the job. It will not work as a standalone product, as it’s kind of like a dry oil and is not essentially a dewy kind of product. But as the name implies, it really is a troubleshooter for the pesky discolorations that just don’t want to go away.
I have yet to try out Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream (Php1850 for 50mL)! But with the name, I’m already excited as I do think it’ll work for my dehydrated oily skin perfectly. I am always on the lookout for gel type creams due to my skin type, and also because of the Philippine climate in general. So this should be exciting. I also found out that it has desert plant extract, and thus far, I have liked all the products I have used featuring desert plants like cacti.

The best part is that you can be sure that the products are authentic as it’s really the L’Oréal group managing this store at LazMall. I know there are plenty of scalpers and resellers, and aside from the shipping and third party fees being expensive, you could be sold fake or defective Kiehl’s products. So to make sure that you get the most efficacious bestsellers from Kiehl’s, always look for the Kiehl’s flagship store at LazMall!
To make it feel like a celebration, they also sent a lovely bottle of liquor alongside this specially engraved glass. I don’t drink, but my siblings love liquor, so they thank Kiehl’s for these hahaha.
