Selsun Blue came back to the market in 2016 (I actually never even knew it ever disappeared!), and since then has been helping its users achieve confidence through true dandruff relief. As the brand’s way of giving back, Selsun Blue is launching its Upside Down Class Pass series, with the first e-vent this September 1, 2021! I was invited to the press launch to learn more about the brand as well as the upcoming class series.
I have here a few screenshots from the Zoom E-vent, but they made it short and sweet and primarily just to get the word out about the class series. Selsun Blue is special because it has 1% Selenium Sulfide, and as such truly has the medicinal power to fight dandruff. Their shampoos have French Honey Extracts to help make them less dehydrating than other anti-dandruff shampoos in the market. As these are medicated in a sense, you only need to use these twice a week.
Jenny Arcellana, Selsun Blue Philippines Marketing Manager, discussed that there are plenty of people who suffer from dandruff and that the reasons can be very broad. Stress can be a cause, skin problems can be a cause, a harsh climate or environment can also be a cause. Some people sadly associate dandruff with poor hygiene, but for anyone who has experienced dandruff, it’s obviously not poor hygiene and it’s usually caused by some external factor or stressor. The pandemic has been a very stressful time for all of us, and unfortunately in some people, the stress manifests in dandruff. The pandemic is already as bad as it is, so it’s definitely tough to have dandruff even add to the list of burdens that people need to carry today. This is why the managers of Selsun Blue appreciate the position that they are in, that they are able to offer a product that tackles one of the byproducts of pandemic stress.
Vince Marquez, Selsun Blue Philippines Product Manager, spoke about the importance of confidence and how much Selsun Blue has made a difference in improving the confidence of its users. The Upside Down Class Pass series was formed as a way of giving back to the loyal users of Selsun Blue, as well as thanksgiving for the warm reception of the public to the brand since its return to the Philippine market. Confidence can be acquired through living a dandruff-free life, but it can also be acquired through learning new things and becoming better ate certain skills, so for the class series, they focused on the angle of “confidence through learning” as the goal.
Vince also shared tidbits about Selsun Blue’s products. Selsun Blue’s two variants, Pro-X (extra strength anti-dandruff shampoo with menthol) and Pro (2-in-1 shampoo with conditioner), help various types of dandruff sufferers deal with their dandruff problems. Pro-X is for an itchy scalp, while Pro is for normal hair. Both have 1% Selenium Sulfide, and both come in 120mL-bottle and 6g-sachet formats.
