Maybelline Color Show Lipsticks Review and Swatches |
Another Maybelline review! I don’t have all the shades for this collection, but as this is found in a lot of groceries and stores, I know lotsa people might be curious. So I thought I’d share my thoughts on the shades I owned.
Shade Selection: Shade selection is most definitely not a problem as there is Color Show Satin, Color Show Matte, and Color Show Reds, with a total of like 26 shades across all sub-collections. They have a healthy amount of wearable reds, pinks, and nudes, which are actually what most women need. Maybelline of course explores a lot of exotic shades across all their collections, but realistically, not all of them are practical for everyday. This is the collection wherein all the shades are wearable for work, school, and church.
Color Payoff and Pigmentation: This is not as rich as other Maybelline collections, but good enough. You can expect to get about 80% pigmentation on the first swipe. If I’m just talking about this alone, it’s actually already good. Maybelline really just comes up with very good lip collections that when you compare this with other Maybelline collections, the gap is apparent.
Texture: The texture is a lot lighter than other Maybelline collections, but is still soft and creamy. It just happens to not be as densely powdery as other famed Maybelline collections like the Creamy Mattes or Powder Mattes. It glides on quite easily as the formula is soft, and compared to other Maybelline collections, it doesn’t move around as much.
Comfort: This feels comfortable to use as the texture is soft, creamy, and lightweight. Some are scented with a fruit fragrance, but a lot of them are scented with a soap-resembling fragrance that’s weird. You do get occasional whiffs of it so it’s confusing for your brain. Like your brain will tell you that you’re not supposed to eat soap, but at the same time, your brain will also realize that it’s the lipstick you’re using. I usually like scented beauty products, but this is just one scent that is not working for me.
Longevity: Like other Maybelline releases, this doesn’t last a very long time. One really needs to reapply regularly throughout the day, especially after meals. You’d need to reapply every 2-3 hours or so. But like other intensely colored Maybelline lip products, these also leave a good tint on the lips, so that helps, too.
Value For Money: Each one is just Php179 for a 3.6g tube, and they even used to be just Php165, so no one’s complaining!
Overall Feedback: I really like the overall accessibility this product line has. The price is affordable, and this is sold in drugstores and groceries nationwide, aside from Maybelline counters, so it’s among the easier items to find. I also like the plentiful shades, as well as the wearability and usability of most of them. The texture is also ok. I really just can’t stand the fragrance of a lot of them. That’s all.
